1 Year? Year?!

Something magnificent

I realized this morning that I would have to publish a spectacular post today because this notification ticked into my phone:

Ett år har gått siden denne bloggen ble opprettet. Litt mimring hører med!

Can you believe it? A year! Can one picture say it all? I don’ believe it can, this has been such an incredible year. I have decided that some reminiscing is in order.

Seen at Science Center NEMO – about a year ago – Amsterdam

This blog was born in Amsterdam where I was studying International Journalism. Oh, Amsterdam, I miss you so – crazy, beautiful city. One day I will return!

Then there was Christmas in Lille

My birthday…

And before I knew it, I was back in Oslo.

But not for long, since I had to go abroad to write a feature story for my exam. I ended up in the most amazing and extraordinary place: Haiti.

(Stopping in Cuba on the way home…)

And USA  >>>>>>

Also, somewhere between writing my exam paper and planning my journey to USA, I managed to move to Drammen, the most cozy town. It rests by a river in a mountain valley and I have a view from my balcony, need I say more? My furry BFF likes her new place of residence very much too!

I’m still settling in, really, Drammen needs exploring! And I will be taking my camera and you with me. But that’s in the future, while this post is all about the year that has gone. And there one last important journey that needs to be mentioned – The Annual Russian Trip.

And thus a WordPress Year has passed. I’ve been a little depressed lately because I’m unemployed, bored and broke, but looking back at the amazing times I’ve had quite recently has helped me remember what a fortunate person I am. I will just sit tight, enjoy my freedom and wait to shine again. Thank you for staying with me!

Entering Year 2!

Last Stop

On the road trip through Florida, one place especially, turned out to be a wonderful treat. I didn’t have any expectations when I insisted on a visit to St. Pete, I just wanted to make a quick stop in the city that has the same name as the one where I was born.

It was great! I ate the best Indian food EVER (@MoonUnderTheWater) after strolling the beautiful avenues and visiting the Salvador Dali Museum.

Ah!

And some Dali quotes:

Have no fear of perfection – you’ll never reach it.
The only difference between me and a madman is that I’m not mad.
Intelligence without ambition is a bird without wings.

Yess, I Have a Wand!

Disney World is not the only famous attraction in Orlando. There are Universal Studios too, and I visited Universal’s Isles of Adventure! The park was very beautiful and fun, but missing some of the charm Disney characters bring. I met Spiderman though, and he was super-funny! And the rides in Isles of Adventure was more exhilarating than Disney’s. While it’s ridiculous that they don’t have Fast Track. It was raining though, so the lines took no time at all.

Except for in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter! Sooo many people!!! D-: The line outside Olivander’s (where the wand picks you) was never-ending! I still got my wand though! It picked me without Olivander’s help 😉

Magic Kingdom – Disney World Orlando

Four parks in two days! We’re talking blisters, rain and a lot of fun. I wish I could do it all over again! There were lines, of course, but the rain must have kept the masses down. The only places with unbearably long waiting time were the nice restaurants – eatable food is hard to find in Disney World. Luckily it’s possible to run on Disney Magic fuel for while.

I wish I had taken more pictures, but I was busy acting like a five year old. Unfortunately ‘Transform to a Disney Princess’ was only available for the small kids between 3-12. I couldn’t fool the castle guard. :-/

Ah! I love exploring new streets, walking must be on of my favorite vacation activities. Until a certain point, like in Orlando. My feet will need some time to recover, but I miss Disney World already! I saw some amazing fireworks there, I kind of revealed that in my Weekly photo challenge post. Yup, Disney Land coming up next 😉

Oh, and some more street shots, as you please (someone’s reading A Song of Ice and Fire a.k.a. Game of Thrones these days!)

So Miami. Maybe no city would be able to match my expectations, and I certainty had too little time in Miami to discover the hidden treasures. The crowds strolling Ocean Drive were however as little dressed as promised and the cars were as shiny as advertised. That was cool. I would really not recommend eating in Ocean Drive though. Also, the lines outside clubs on 4th of July were crazy – not cool, especially since the rain started pouring down the second the lights in the sky went out. But hey, I was THERE!

and so were lots of other people!! no, I didn’t bother to get in line to be photographed with the sign considering the heat..

But I did find the time to visit little Havana, since I recently explored the big one.
And I bought some fine cigars there too 😉

Oh, I do love fireworks! So much that shooting them is no fun… And a photo can’t really show the magnificence of an exploding sky :-/

Since I arrived the sunshine state (it’s a way to say Florida, right?) I’ve been itching to blog, but finding the opportunity (and the Wifi) to do so has not been easy! Oh, well… I’m having fun and soaking up the sun, getting a tan and enjoying myself immensely! I hope you love your summer vacation as much as I love mine!
